Child safety standards

Last updated: 3 September 2026.

Vexxy is operated by Carlos Gonzalo Hernández Laurencio, a natural person, and these standards are applied by that person.

Vexxy is an app for people aged 18 and over. Child sexual abuse and exploitation has no place here. This document says what we do to prevent it, how to report it, what happens when someone does, and how quickly.

This is not a description of how the app happens to work today: it is what the app has to do. If it ever stops doing it, the app is what gets fixed.

18 and over only

Creating a profile requires a date of birth, not a ticked box. The check is not done by the screen: it is done by the server, and an account whose date of birth belongs to someone under 18 is never created.

The age rating IARC issued for the app is an adult one across regions: PEGI 18, USK 18, ESRB Mature 17+ and the rest. The target audience declared on Google Play is 18 and over, and the app's own cut-off is stricter than any of those ratings.

What is not allowed

Any child sexual abuse material, in profile photos, in chat images or in text. No exceptions and no context that excuses it.

Any attempt to contact a minor for sexual or romantic purposes, including asking for images, proposing to meet, or trying to move the conversation off the app.

Posing as a minor, or presenting anyone shown in a photo as a minor.

Using an account while under 18. This is not a technicality: an account belonging to a minor is closed as soon as it is confirmed, even if nothing else happened.

How we prevent it

The age cut-off is enforced by the server, not by the interface. It is the only measure that acts before the account exists, which is why it comes first.

Every photo a person uploads goes through automated review before anyone sees it. It starts out as "pending" and only the moderation system can approve it; a photo that does not go through it is never shown to anyone. The threshold for profile photos is deliberately strict.

Chat images go through the same pipeline: private storage, moderation before delivery, and blurring, so the recipient decides whether to open them. There is never a public link to a chat image. The threshold is not identical — a private conversation between two people who have already matched is not judged like a public profile photo — but child sexual abuse material is blocked the same way in both places, and there are no degrees there.

And what that review does NOT do, because it needs saying. It looks for sexual content: it does not estimate anyone's age and it does not match against databases of known material. What surfaces an account belonging to a minor is reports, which is why that route is the one we handle ahead of everything else.

Blocking is immediate and needs no explanation. Blocking someone cuts the conversation in both directions and removes them from discovery.

The whole account can be deleted, from inside the app and also from a public web page, for anyone who has already uninstalled it.

How to report

Every profile has a report button, and you do not need to have matched. The profile opens by tapping a card in Discover, in Nearby or in Featured, from the messages list, and by tapping the name in the chat header. One of the reasons is "Looks underage", which is the specific route for this kind of report.

A single message is reported by pressing and holding it, so the report arrives with the evidence and its context.

You can also write to abuse@vexxyapp.com from any email address, with no need to have a Vexxy account. It is the mailbox dedicated to this.

You do not need to be certain to report. We would rather review ten reports that turn out to be nothing than have someone stay quiet for fear of being wrong.

What happens when a report arrives

A child safety report is reviewed by a person, by hand, and goes ahead of the rest of the queue. Our commitment is to look at it within 24 hours of receiving it, every day of the year.

When it is confirmed, the account is closed: it stops appearing in discovery, it cannot write to anyone, and its photos stop being served. The person is told that the account has been closed and why.

And the material is taken down. If anything is still reachable by some route — an image already inside a conversation, say — it is deleted by hand. Closing the account does not do all of it on its own, which is why this is a commitment and not a description.

We keep what is attached to an open report while it is being reviewed, and whatever the law requires us to keep, so we can respond to a request from a competent authority. Where the law requires us to report child sexual abuse material to a competent authority, we do, and we cooperate with the requests we receive.

We do not restore or "clear" content of this kind because whoever uploaded it asks us to. What there always is, is a person to appeal to: write to hello@vexxyapp.com, give your side of it, and someone looks at the decision again. If it was wrong, it gets undone.

Contact

For anything related to child safety, including requests from competent authorities:

abuse@vexxyapp.com

It is a mailbox dedicated to child safety, a person reads it, and it is used for nothing else. You do not need to put anything special in the subject line.

It is also the contact address declared to Google Play for this matter, which is why the one shown here and the one on file there are the same.

Vexxy complies with the child safety laws applicable in the territories where it is distributed, and with Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy.

If what is promised here changes, the date at the top changes. The version published on this page is always the current one.
